If you’ve followed me for a while, you’ll know that hyaluronic acid is one product I always recommend.  Whether you are dry, oily or combination, more than likely, your skin is also dehydrated. Between changing seasons, heat, air conditioning and diet, your skin is usually the first to show signs of dehydration.

Unlike most acids that resurface the skin, hyaluronic acid can sound scary to those who fear using them, but this in an acid like no other.  It is purely for hydration.  However, that’s not it’s only benefit.

Hyaluronic acid is actually a naturally occurring substance in the skin which can hold up to 1000x its own weight in moisture.  As we age, it depletes so we need to apply it topically to the skin to enhance a healthy look and feel.

No matter what you do for your skin (at the very least you should be double cleansing and moisturising!), add hyaluronic acid into your routine and thank me later!

How does it work?

  • It replenishes lost moisture
  • Revitalises the skins outer layer
  • Improves texture
  • Improves appearance of fine lines & wrinkles
  • Gives skin a smoother, softer and radiant look
  • It can be used with other acids unlike resurfacing ones such as retinol

What should I look for?

Get used to looking at the ingredients list on your products.  Look for hyaluronic acid obviously but the higher up the ingredient appears on the list, the more of that substance is in the product.  So, look for products with a high level to get the best from what you buy.  There are many different variations you can try.  They range from budget to luxury.  You will find with higher end products; they contain a higher level of the acid plus a range of other carefully curated active ingredients.  It all depends what you want from your skincare and what you can afford.

Where does it go in my routine?

After double cleansing, apply any other acids you’re using followed by your hyaluronic. If you’re not using any other acids, that’s fine, just apply before your moisturiser so it can draw moisture from that product & draw into the skin.
