Peter Thomas Roth Pumpkin Enzyme Mask – REVIEW

Have you ever woken up in the morning and just felt your skin is a bit “gritty”?  You’ve cleansed and toned but if you stretch the skin you can feel little bumps….blackheads, maybe a whitehead or two as you run your fingers along it?  Just dull, dull, dull.  Here is a pumpkin mask that is packed with serious punch!

I try many masks, but I have to say this is the dogs when it comes to declogging my skin and getting it squeaky clean.  It has a gel like consistency without being full of the gritty bits of old apricot masks we all tore our skins off with in the 80’s (for those young enough to remember).  It’s a very sophisticated mask that not only eats away at the skin with its enzymes, but the texture means you’ll be quite happy to get in there and scrub.

I would recommend doing a patch test prior to using this mask as it’s not for the faint hearted.  That sounds a bit dramatic but its ingredients are very potent and could aggravate sensitive skin.  Some redness and tingling is normal but if it burns or irritates too much then it’s not for you.

What’s great about it?

  • Packs a punch
  • Very active ingredients
  • Leaves skin clear and super soft
  • Skin is revitalised
  • Polishes and resurfaces brilliantly

What’s not so great?

Very active ingredients so while it says suitable for all skin types, if your skin is very sensitive it’s not for you.  Do however, build up to the full 7 minutes over a few weeks and as your skin adjusts, the results will improve.  You can thank me later!!

How I use it?

Once a week (twice if my skin is clogged more than usual) I apply a layer over clean skin.  I avoid using anything too active as a cleanser and just keep this as my punching gloves to whack all those dead skin cells.  Leave on for 3 – 7 minutes (3 to start and work up to 7 over the weeks as your skin adjusts) and with wet fingers, massage in circular motion.  Then sit back and let the AHA’s and enzymes work their magic!  Rinse well afterwards and apply a nourishing moisturiser that’s not overly active or scented if your skin on the sensitive side of things.  Then just admire your glowing skin!
